This one isn't necessarily a scam, but it sure is annoying.
You may have seen ads for those AI chat apps on your social media feed. They may seem like a cool thing to download, but just check out what X Community notes had to say...
X uses claimed "This app is not officially endorsed by OpenAI (the company that crated ChatGPT), and could paywall access to an otherwise free service."
This basically means OpenAI has a free iOS app that won't paywall access* to features like other apps 3rd-party GPT apps. 3rd-party GPT apps use the publicly available GPT-3(.5) (the code behind ChatGPT) to create these apps.
